JOOPITER, the auction house of Pharell Williams, is hosting an online auction of the art and archive of G-Dragon, the world-renowned K-pop megastar, fashion icon and artist. Titled “Nothing but a ‘G’ Thang: The Art & Archive of G-Dragon,” bidding is on now and open until September 10.
“G-Dragon is in this space where he’s shedding his old skin—letting go of what he doesn’t need any more and embracing something new… The dragon gets to see new skin, new wings, and now, G-Dragon is about to fly higher than ever. It’s a beautiful thing to witness, and I’m excited for JOOPITER to be a part of it,” says Williams.
The sale is a celebration of G-Dragon’s legacy as a cultural trailblazer and provides a first-time look at his personal artwork and custom fashion designs as well as his collection of contemporary art, design and memorabilia from across his career. Spanning 51 lots, items include a pair of Off-White x Nike Air Jordan 1s, a Peaceminusone leather jacket and Chanel belt all customized by G-Dragon.
To launch the exciting collaboration, a party was held at Paradise City, a luxury resort complex in Incheon, as well as a public exhibition on 02 September. Additionally, the auction preview will be on display at Daelim Museum in Seoul from 05 to 07 September.
Here, LARRY’S LIST presents a selection of highlights from the sale:
