This week, Larry’s List, the world’s leading art collector database, is introducing ten rising young art collectors around the globe who are under the age of 40.
A number of these young collectors are bankers or entrepreneurs who have developed a personal interest in art, while others are working in the arts sector initially. What they have in common is that they got excited about the arts and about collecting already at a very early stage in their life. Their collecting approach is very different, ranging from focusing on young and emerging artistic positions to blue-chip artists.

Arguably the biggest collector in the Philippines, Robbie Antonio has only began collecting modern and contemporary art in 2005, but his collection is already very established including works by artists such as Francis Bacon, Willem de Kooning, Andy Warhol, and Takashi Murakami.
John D. Arnold, Houston, United States
As a former hedge fund manager, John D. Arnold has committed himself to art collecting and philanthropy after his retirement from his hedge fund career. He collects with his wife Laura. Their collection focuses on post-war as well as contemporary art, with a special interest in Abstract Expressionist and Cubism works by artist such as Willem de Kooning and Pablo Picasso.
Adrian Cheng, Hong Kong, China
As heir of one of the most influential property development tycoons in Asia, Adrian Cheng has the vision of merging commerce and art. Consequently, he has developed the first “Art Mall” – called K 11 – in Hong Kong in 2009. Meanwhile the mall has branches in Shanghai and Chengdu. Cheng is also a passionate art collector himself and owns works of local and international artists.
Moisés Cosio, Mexico City, Mexico
Moisés Cosio is a Mexican film producer with interest in arts education and in the development of the local contemporary art scene. He has been running projects to support local artist and art appreciation in the communities, and has collaborated with various international art institutions.
Daniela Hinrichs, Hamburg, Germany
As an entrepreneur and an art dealer herself, Daniela Hinrichs is particularly passionate about photography. She has founded an online platform which showcases emerging photographers and offers limited edition prints.
Taymour Grahne, New York, United States
Taymour Grahne’s collection has a special focus on contemporary works from the Middle East, where he also originates. While he is collecting himself, he also runs his own gallery in New York, promoting top Middle Eastern artists.
Nilani Trent, Houston, United States
With the experience of having worked at Christie’s and Sotheby’s, Nilani Trent founded her own art advisory firm in 2006. She started her art collection journey as an investment, but later developed a true passion in it. She is also a patron of Brooklyn Museum and supported the museum in various ways.
Maxwell Graham, New York, United States
Maxwell Graham is an art dealer, curator and gallery owner, as well as a collector who enthused in (re-)discovering underrated and emerging artists such as Mandla Reuter, Helena Almeida and Joëlle Tuerlinckx.
Kai van Hasselt, Amsterdam, Netherlands
Kai van Hasselt has begun art collecting in his teenage years. He is collecting contemporary art with a rather specific theme: transformation. Van Hasselt has been invited to talk about his collection and his specific approach of collecting at a number of art fairs and art events.
Tobias Gombert, Basel, Switzerland
The Basel-based collector Tobias Gombert is an active member of the Verein der Freunde der Nationalgalerie Berlin (Friends of the National Gallery) and of the board of Freunde der Kunsthalle Basel (Friends of Kunsthalle Basel). Gombert started his collection one day as a result of his individual initiative. His collection includes among others Kenneth Noland, Katharina Grosse and Thomas Struth.
